After being a mystery throughout season 1, Pugsley’s supernatural powers are finally revealed in Wednesday season 2’s new teaser trailer, and they connect to another beloved Addams family member. The powers of Wednesday’s Addams family members play a more prominent role in Netflix’s spinoff than in past iterations, as this version of the kooky characters gives them a significant legacy at Nevermore Academy’s school for outcasts. However, not all the Addams family members’ powers had been explored before season 1’s ending.
Throughout season 1, Wednesday Addams navigated her newly developed psychic powers while beginning her first semester at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday inherited the psychic abilities of her mother, Morticia, which began to manifest for both around the time they turned 15. Pugsley being a year or two younger than Wednesday explained why he hadn’t yet discovered his powers in season 1, but the time jump before Wednesday season 2 now seemingly brings him to the same age she was at the series’ start. With Pugsley now joining Wednesday at Nevermore Academy, he’ll be honing his distinctive new powers throughout season 2.
Wednesday Season 2 Confirms Pugsley Has The Power To Generate Electricity (Like Uncle Fester)
Pugsley’s Powers Mirror Uncle Fester’s Abilities
In Wednesday season 2’s new teaser trailer, we finally get a glimpse at Pugsley using his powers. On the car ride to Nevermore Academy, Pugsley is seen generating electricity from his fingertips, mirroring the powers of Uncle Fester Addams. Considering Wednesday inherited Morticia’s psychic vision gift and Pugsley inherited the psychic electricity-based abilities of his uncle, it seems the Addamses’ specific powers may manifest differently depending on whether they’re male or female. Since we still don’t know what Gomez’s powers are, his abilities could help reveal more about how psychic powers are passed down between generations.
While Pugsley and Wednesday both fall into the psychic outcast species at Nevermore Academy, the fact that they have distinctive abilities makes their journeys at the school more fascinating. Pugsley will require different training from Wednesday to hone his skills at generating electricity, while the titular character will be more focused on controlling and exploring the boundaries of her visions. Considering how helpful Fester’s powers were in saving Thing’s life in Wednesday season 1, Pugsley having the same abilities will doubtlessly come in handy throughout season 2.
Pugsley’s Wednesday Season 2 Story Can Make Up For Fester Not Being Able To Attend Nevermore
Pugsley Can Reveal How Nevermore Would Have Approached Fester’s Powers
With Pugsley having the same powers as Uncle Fester, his story in Wednesday season 2 can reveal how the school might have approached training Fester’s powers had he attended Nevermore Academy. In Wednesday season 1, Fester reveals to Wednesday that only Gomez was able to attend Nevermore, ultimately leading them down two very different paths of Fester being a criminal mastermind and Gomez becoming a successful lawyer. Without Nevermore’s assistance, Fester had to find some alternative ways to use his powers to make money.
Wednesday season 2, part 1 will be released on Netflix on August 6, 2025.
However, Nevermore will doubtlessly try to send Puglsey on a less illegal path when using his powers – instead, teaching him how to use them for good. That said, Pugsley having the same powers as Uncle Fester means Fred Armisen’s Wednesday character will likely be excited to teach his nephew some of his old tricks. As such, Pugsley will have to balance his uncle’s unconventional electricity-based training with the teachings at Nevermore Academy in Wednesday season 2.
