WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Weak Hero Class 1.Weak Hero Class 2 will be premiering on Netflix on April 25, 2025, and there are certain things to remember from Class 1 before the K-drama is released. Based on the webtoon of the same name by Seopass and Kim Jin-seok, Weak Hero Class 1 stars Park Ji-hoon, Choi Hyun-wook, and Hong Kyung, who take on the roles of Yeon Si-eun, Ahn Su-ho, and Oh Beom-seok, respectively. The K-drama focuses on a group of teenagers who decide to stand up to the bullies in their classroom.

Weak Hero Class 1 is one of the most underrated K-dramas. It premiered on Wavve in 2022 but didn’t gain global recognition because it wasn’t available to an international audience. When the K-drama was added to Netflix’s library, it immediately became popular. So, before the Netflix original K-drama, Weak Hero Class 2 is released, it’s worth looking at what happened in the show’s first season.

Yeon Si-eun Refused To Be Bullied

He’s Not Afraid Of Yeong-bin

Yeon Si-eun, one of the smartest kids in his class, preferred studying to hanging out with people. Si-eun spends his school days minding his own business, until one day when the class bully, Jeon Yeong-bin, decides that he is the next victim after Si-eun beats him in a Math competition. To Yeong-bin’s surprise, Si-eun wasn’t scared of him. In fact, he stands up to Yeong-bin and his friends and beats them up when they try to attack him.

Instead of Yeong-bin leaving Si-eun alone after he loses the fight, he doubles down on bullying him. He goes as far as to drug him when he runs out of ideas on how to hurt him. Yeong-bin ends up in the hospital and is transferred to another school, but that doesn’t deter him. He hires his cousin, who is affiliated with a gang, to hurt Si-eun, but that too backfires when they fail to do any real harm to him.

Yeon Si-eun, Ahn Su-ho, And Oh Beom-seok Became Close Friends

Thanks To Su-ho’s Insistence

When Yeong-bin fails to bully Si-eun, he chooses another person to hurt, Oh Beom-seok, a new transfer student. Unlike Si-eun, Beom-seok isn’t able to stand up to Yeong-bin. He helps the bully drug Si-eun, who is understandably angry with him when he finds out the role he played in the whole debacle. Fortunately, Si-eun forgives Beom-seok and the two become friends.

Another student, Ahn Su-ho, rounds up the group of friends. Su-ho is an MMA fighter with two part-time jobs. He doesn’t care much about school, but never misses a day to ensure that he gets perfect attendance by the time he graduates. Su-ho is the one who forces the three of them to be friends. He often forced the reluctant Si-eun to go out for meals with him and Beom-seok until they formed a close bond.

Yeon Si-Eun Had A Complex Relationship With His Family

Si-eun’s parents were divorced, which meant that he lived with his father. Although they were only the two of them, Si-eun and his dad weren’t particularly close. His dad, a baseball coach, spent most of his time traveling and often left Si-eun home alone. However, that didn’t seem to bother Si-eun, who was used to their dynamic.

Oh Beom-Seok Transferred From Another School Because He Was Bullied

In the first episode of Weak Hero Class 1, it’s revealed that Oh Beom-seok transferred from an affluent school, but the reason why wasn’t revealed until later on in the coming-of-age K-drama. When Beom-seok was at his old school, the students who considered themselves the strongest in the whole school targeted him because he seemed like the weakest one.

Even when Beom-seok moved to his new school, the bullying didn’t stop there. They continued calling and antagonizing him until he snapped. Transferring to a new school didn’t really change Beom-seok’s life. He met other people there, who also began to physically hurt him. The main difference is that this time, they used him for his money.

Oh Beom-Seok & Ahn Su-Ho Had A Falling Out

Beom-seok Started To Change Completely

The burgeoning friendship between Beom-seok, Su-ho, and Si-eun was one of the best things about Weak Hero Class 1. Unfortunately, it didn’t last very long. When Beom-seok ran into the students from his old school who used to bully him, he began to change. Instead of telling his friends what was bothering him, he pushed them away. He hated Su-ho with a passion because he believed that he was always trying to tell him what to do.

The fight between the two friends escalated when Beom-seok and his new friends cut the lunch line, which made Su-ho attack him. Beom-seok, who was at this point burning with rage, devised a plan to hurt Su-ho. He and his new friends cut the brakes off of Su-ho’s motorcycle. Fortunately, Su-ho didn’t get hurt, but Beom-seok came up with another way to harm the one person who used to be at his side.

Gil-Su Took Advantage Of Teenagers

Si-eun And Yeong-i Came Up With A Plan To Put Gil-su Behind Bars

Weak Hero Class 1 introduces audiences to Gil-su, a scam artist whom Seok-dae, Yeong-bin’s cousin, worked for. Gil-su had a gambling app that lured teenagers, who weren’t allowed to gamble, to bet a lot of money. Initially, the teenagers would win on the app, and then they would begin to lose their money slowly. When that happened, Gil-su would approach them and offer to lend them the funds to continue playing.

When they failed to pay the money back, they were forced to start working for him, doing all kinds of things, legal and illegal, for Gil-su. Gil-su even tried to extort money from Su-ho, Beom-seok, and Si-eun, but they refused to pay him. Si-eun and Yeong-i instead came up with a plan to put Gil-su behind bars and stop him from scamming and hurting teenagers once and for all.

Oh Beom-Seok Left The Country In The Season Finale Of Weak Hero Class 1

He Was Sent To The Philippines

Oh Beom-seok, who initially seemed like a sweet teenager, turned out to have a cruel side. He hired an MMA fighter to beat up Su-ho because he wanted to teach him a lesson. Su-ho ended up sustaining life-threatening injuries after he was attacked. Beom-seok did see the error of his ways in the action K-drama, but it was too late at that point.

Ahn Su-Ho Was Hospitalized At The End Of Weak Hero Class 1

He Ends Up In A Coma

In the final episode of Weak Hero Class 1, the fight between Su-ho and Beom-seok came to a tragic end. During Su-ho’s birthday party, Yeong-i received a text from Beom-seok, who asked her to meet him. Thinking she’s going there to help mend things between the three friends, Yeong-i is shocked by what she finds waiting for her when she meets Beom-seok. Beom-seok had used Yeong-i as bait so that Su-ho could come to her aid because he cared about her and didn’t want her to get hurt.

However, Su-ho didn’t read the texts that Beom-seok sent; Si-eun did, so he was the one who showed up at their meeting place. This time, Si-eun doesn’t walk away unscathed, but is badly beaten up. When Su-ho finds out what happened to Si-eun, he rushes to get back at his attackers but is instead ganged up on by Beom-seok and the rest of his friends. Su-ho is gravely injured and ends up in a coma at the end of Weak Hero Class 1.

Yeon Si-Eun Transferred To A New School

He Was Expelled After Attacking Some People

Yeon Si-eun, who earned a reputation for having a temper at his high school, didn’t take the fact that Su-ho was in a coma well. When Si-eun goes back to school, he attacks everyone, except Beom-seok, who had a hand in hurting his friend. Given that he was violent in a school setting, Si-eun was expelled and was forced to find a new one, but that was easier said than done because no one wanted to accept him.

He eventually starts going to Eujang High School, and it’s immediately made clear that he might have to stand up for himself while he is there. Since his new classmates didn’t know his reputation, the bullies targeted him, but were in for a rude awakening when he fought back. Si-eun’s life at Eujang High and the fact that he has new enemies perfectly set up Weak Hero Class 2.
