The final days of April 2025 are bringing more movies for viewers of all ages and for all tastes, and these, along with some of March’s biggest hits, are now playing in theaters. 2024 was a successful year for the film industry, with big hits from different genres – and 2025 has been off to a great start. The first months of the year brought movies like the one-of-a-kind biographical musical Better Man, the horror movie Wolf Man, a new Paddington movie, and more.
April saw the release of the horror comedies Screamboat and Hell of a Summer, the fantasy movie A Minecraft Movie, the thriller Drop, Rami Malek’s The Amateur, the war movie Warfare, and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. Joining most of these and more this weekend is a long-awaited sequel, a fantasy adventure movie, a romantic drama, and David Cronenberg’s latest project.

The Accountant 2
The Accountant 2 Will Be Released On April 25, 2025
Nine years after the release of The Accountant comes its sequel. Simply titled The Accountant 2, and directed by Gavin O’Connor, the events of the movie begin when FinCEN’s director, Raymond King, is killed, and a “find the accountant” is found on his arm during the autopsy. Agent Marybeth Medina is forced to contact Christian Wolff to solve King’s murder. Wolff teams up with his estranged brother, Brax, and their investigation draws the attention of some of the most dangerous assassins alive.

The Legend of Ochi
The Legend of Ochi Will Be Released On April 25, 2025
The Legend of Ochi is a fantasy adventure movie written and directed by Isaiah Saxon. Set in a secluded northern village on the island of Carpathia, The Legend of Ochi follows farm girl Yuri, who has been taught not to go outside after dark. Yuri has also been taught to fear reclusive forest creatures known as the Ochi. When Yuri finds a wounded baby Ochi who was left behind by its group, she sets out on an adventure to reunite the creature with its group.

On Swift Horses
On Swift Horses Will Be Released On April 25, 2025
On Swift Horses is a romantic drama directed by Danial Minahan and based on Shannon Pufahl’s 2019 novel of the same name. On Swift Horses is the story of Muriel and her husband Lee, who, after Lee’s return from the Korean War, start a new life in California. When Lee’s charismatic brother, Julius, arrives, Lee wants the three of them to build a life together, but Julius travels to Las Vegas.
There, he gets a job and falls in love with Henry, with whom he starts a secret relationship. Meanwhile, in California, Muriel also has secrets of her own, as she starts gambling on racehorses. Muriel also meets her neighbor, Sandra, with whom she finds a love she never thought was possible.

The Shrouds
The Shrouds Will Be Released On April 25, 2025
The Shrouds is a body horror drama written and directed by David Cronenberg. It follows Karsh, a prominent businessman who, after the death of his wife, invents GraveTech. This controversial technology enables the living to monitor the corpses of their loved ones as they decay in their shrouds. One night, the grave of Karsh’s wife and many others is desecrated, and Karsh sets out to track down those responsible. The Shrouds had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Sinners
Sinners Was Released On April 18, 2025
Sinners is a period horror movie written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Sinners follows twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown in an effort to leave their troubled lives behind and have a fresh start. However, once they arrive in the town, they make a disturbing discovery as a great evil has taken over the town, plaguing it with vampires.
Michael B. Jordan plays a dual role as twins Smoke and Stack.

Sneaks
Sneaks Was Released On April 18, 2025
Sneaks is an animated sports comedy directed by Ron Edwards and Chris Jenkins. Sneaks tells the adventures of Ty, a misguided designer sneaker who lives comfortably in his velvet-lined shoebox. However, his life takes a turn when his sister is stolen by a collector, sending Ty on an adventure into New York City to find and rescue her. Along the way, Ty meets a rag-tag group of footwear friends who encourage him to literally step outside his shoebox and find his calling.

Drop Was Released On April 11, 2025
Drop is a mystery thriller film directed by Christopher Landon. Drop follows Violet, a widowed mother who goes on a date with a man named Henry. However, during the date, she begins to be terrorized by an anonymous source who sends her messages to her phone via AirDrop. The caller orders her to not alert anyone or her sister and her son will be killed, and begins to give her instructions on what to do, with Henry as their next target.

The Amateur
The Amateur Was Released On April 11, 2025
The Amateur is a spy thriller directed by James Hawes. The Amateur follows CIA cryptographer Charles Heller, whose life takes a turn when his wife is killed in a terrorist attack. Charles’ supervisors refuse to take action and find those responsible, so Charles decides to do it himself. However, he’s not trained to be a killer, so he has to use his intelligence and strategic mind to find and face his wife’s killers.

Warfare
Warfare Was Released On April 11, 2025
Warfare is a war action movie directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland. Warfare follows a platoon of Navy SEALS on a surveillance mission through insurgent territory in 2006, but it doesn’t go as expected. Warfare is based on Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War as a former U.S. Navy SEAL, and the story is told in real time. Warfare’s all-star cast includes names like Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, and Michael Gandolfini.

A Minecraft Movie

A Minecraft Movie is a fantasy adventure comedy movie based on the popular video game Minecraft. Directed by Jared Hess, A Minecraft Movie follows four misfits who are pulled through a portal into the Overworld, a strange, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, the group will have to master this world and protect it from all sorts of evil things, while they also embark on a magical quest with an expert crafter named Steve. Snow White Was Released On March 21, 2025
The latest live-action version of a Disney animated movie has arrived. Based on the 1937 animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs comes Snow White, directed by Marc Webb. Snow White tells the story of the title princess, who lives with her vain and cruel stepmother, the Evil Queen. When the Evil Queen tries to get Snow White killed, she flees into the woods and finds refuge with seven kindhearted dwarfs, but the Evil Queen won’t stop until she finds her and gets rid of her.
