In The Pitt season 1’s ending, Robby sent Langdon away from the hospital upon confirming that he had been stealing pills from the hospital’s supply, which Langdon claimed was to treat his withdrawal symptoms after a back injury. Robby informed Langdon that he needed to enter rehab to keep his medical license, with The Pitt’s creator already teasing how that will affect Langdon’s season 2 story.
Series creator R. Scott Gemmill revealed that The Pitt season 2 will likely pick up on Langdon’s first day back, occurring approximately nine or ten months after The Pitt season 1’s chaotic shift (via TV Line). Though the stress will be even higher for Langdon’s return due to season 2 taking place over the Fourth of July weekend, significant time must still be dedicated to catching up on Langdon’s personal and home life during that gap. Considering how heavily Langdon’s recovery will play into The Pitt season 2’s story, the series should go beyond simply referencing his family members.
The Pitt Season 2 Needs To Introduce Langdon’s Wife
Langdon’s Personal Life Should More Directly Factor Into The Pitt Season 2’s Shift
Though it’s completely realistic to not have his family members show up during a shift, it would make sense for Langdon’s wife to check on him during his first shift back in The Pitt season 2. Langdon’s family is somewhat of a blind spot in the series so far, as we only hear references to his wife and kids despite The Pitt’s characters like Dana seemingly having met them several times beforehand. However, with Langdon’s personal struggles having such a big focus, meeting his wife, and even potentially his kids, would elevate his redemption arc outside his career pursuits.

Although a beloved character dynamic with Dr. Frank Langdon was missing from The Pitt’s season 1 finale, it made the impact of his new low stronger.
Plus, The Pitt season 1 has already set a precedent for getting to know the staff’s family members in order to further explore their personal lives and histories. For instance, we meet both Dr. Robby’s ex-girlfriend and her son Jake, with Dr. McKay’s father, ex, and son all appearing in the latter half of season 1. It stands to reason that The Pitt season 2 will start introducing some of the other main characters’ family members, and Langdon should be at the forefront of the series integrating the staff’s lives outside the hospital.

Considering The Pitt season 2 will be set on one of the most dangerous holidays of the year in America, it’s expected to be chaotic almost the moment the day shift staff members arrive. Of course, The Pitt season 1’s Pitt Fest emergency overlapped with personal drama for the doctors, and the same is expected for season 2. As the Fourth of July holiday brings its own medical-based crises for The Pitt’s doctors and nurses to handle, the possibility of Langdon’s family walking through those doors would add another personal layer to the day’s stress, tension, and drama.
