He may be a man of the world, but even Batman isn’t above losing his temper, especially when he comes across Superboy and Batgirl sharing an intimate moment. A hilarious piece of fanart shows the Dark Knight going through a parent’s worst nightmare when he spots Batgirl and Superboy sharing a tender moment.

Superheroes might seem like godlike figures, but at the end of the day, they’re human. They forge close friendships with others, and they fall in love like everyone else. They also feel incredibly human emotions, like Batman does when he catches Superman’s half-clone Conner Kent holding Batgirl Cassandra Cain.

While Cassandra Cain hasn’t had as busy a romantic life as Batgirls Barbara Gordon or Stephanie Brown, she was actually really sweet on one particular hero. In the early 2000s, Batgirl met Superboy for the first time when Conner dropped by Gotham. The two got along quite well. Not only did they vibe together, but they were amazing when fighting together. Superboy even tried to help Batgirl get out of trouble with Batman when she fought metahumans against the Caped Crusader’s wishes. The two got along so well, they even tried dating to see if any sparks flew.

The two’s first (and only) date was seen in Batgirl #41, where Cassandra tracks down Conner to the Kent Farm in Smallville and the two spend the evening together. It’s a nice date that has everything a pair of superhero teens could want, from flying through the skies to fighting side-by-side. However, at the end of the date, the two decided they’d work better as friends. They’d stay friends in the years that followed, but many still wonder what it would have been like had Superboy and Batgirl continued dating.

Now, thanks to artist Be123be_be, fans have a good idea of just how things might have progressed had Cassandra and Conner continued going out. The artwork shows Superboy carrying Batgirl in his arms and catching the two in their private moment is Batman, who looms over the young couple. Bruce isn’t happy with what he sees. Meanwhile, Batgirl is fuming over her time with Superboy being interrupted while Superboy is panicking over making Batman angry.

It’s Funny Seeing Batman Play the Overprotective Dad

Now, would Batman actually go into full papa wolf mode if a member of the Bat-Family actually got involved with another hero? Obviously not. After all, Dick Grayson infamously dated Starfire and he never said two words about it. Of course, the stereotype is that dads always get more bent out of shape when a daughter starts dating someone rather than a son. But Batman’s a level-headed guy, and he’d never intentionally intimidate someone (he’s already naturally intimidating to the entire DC Universe).

That said, it is funny seeing Batman become an overprotective dad. It shows he does care about all of his sidekicks as if they were his own flesh and blood. Even if Cassandra wouldn’t have to worry about someone as sweet as Conner, Batman would want her to know that she deserves respect and to be treated right (even if it means embarrassing the hell out of her in front of her love interest). Superboy and Batgirl might not be an official item, but this artwork is a great reminder that Batman would have Cass’s back if they were.
