There are several organizations in Oblivion Remastered that you can join, gain ranks in, and get some perks from. These groups also have their own quests for you to participate in, so if you’re wandering around Cyrodiil with no clear direction, joining one of these groups can be a good option. Joining one of these groups can also be a fun way to define your character from a role-playing perspective if you are into a more thematic Elder Scrolls experience as opposed to just a scattershot of random quests.
A few of the game’s guilds exist out in the open, and are pretty easy to locate and join. Others are a bit more secretive, and require you to learn of their existence through meeting certain in-game requirements. None of these have a level or particular skill requirement, so you can join with any character. For example, my low-intelligence Knight is still an active member of the Mages Guild.

The Shivering Isles is arguably Oblivion’s best DLC. Here’s how to start it in Oblivion Remastered, even if you didn’t get the quest popup.
You’ll want to avoid storing items here, however, as most of the room’s containers reset over time. You can safely use the desk next to your bed, but items you store in any other containers are in danger of disappearing. Still, this room has a lot of perks, and it’s worth maxing out this guild to get it.

The Adoring Fan is Oblivion’s most useless, and yet most popular, follower. Here’s how you can recruit him for yourself in Oblivion Remastered.
You will have to be careful wearing the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, however. It will immediately drop your fame to zero and your infamy to 100. You may want to use it more situationally than as an item that you keep on at all times.
What Is The Dark Brotherhood In Oblivion Remastered And How To Join
The Dark Brotherhood Is A Group Of Unscrupulous Assassins
The Dark Brotherhood is a group of assassins, and the only faction in Oblivion Remastered that is just unambiguously evil. This is reflected in how you join the Dark Brotherhood, a process that kicks off after you murder an innocent NPC. Once you join, you’ll be given contract killings to carry out, and quests that will help advance you to the higher ranks of the Brotherhood. You’ll also gain access to a powerful merchant and have a chance to become a vampire. A full list of Dark Brotherhood ranks and perks can be seen below:

Access to Cheydinhal Sanctuary. Shrouded Armor and a Shrouded Hood |

Ability to recruit a Murderer as a follower. |
Once you reach the top rank in the Dark Brotherhood, you can have one of the organization’s Murderers follow you around and help out. According to the Wiki for the original Oblivion, one of these murderers was also apparently a merchant who would buy stolen goods off you and had a low Mercantile skill, so you could get good deals on the go. I haven’t reached this point in Oblivion Remastered yet, so I’m not sure if this is still true, but most things in the remaster stick to the original game, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Even though the Dark Brotherhood is an evil faction, joining it won’t prevent you from being a member of the other guilds. If you want to be a completionist, you can join all the guilds and not have ay issues. That said, if you get a bounty on you from any of your killings, you will need to pay it off before trying to join another guild. For convenience, I just joined all the other guilds first, then moved on to the Dark Brotherhood.
What Is The Arena In Oblivion Remastered And Where To Find It
The Arena Is A Public Stadium For Participating In Fights
Although the Arena also has perks and levels, it isn’t a faction in the same vein as the others in Oblivion Remastered. This is a public arena that you can join as a fighter and compete in gladiatorial combat. You increase your rank in the Arena simply by completing a series of increasingly difficult fights until you reach the top rank. A full list of Arena ranks and perks can be seen below:
Arena Ranks |
Perks |
Pit Dog |
N/A |
Brawler |
200 Gold |
Bloodletter |
350 Gold |
Myrmidon |
500 Gold |
Warrior |
650 Gold |

800 Gold |
Hero |
950 Gold |
Champion |
1200 Gold |
Grand Champion |
1000 Gold, Rainment of Valor armor, and the ability to recruit the Adoring Fan. |
Once you’ve become the Champion of the Arena, you can still participate in weekly fights to earn some rewards. Instead of other fighters, you will go up against a selection of beasts scaled to your level. You get extra gold for higher-level monsters, how many you fight at once, and how much damage you take. Even if you’re winning the fight easily, it’s worth letting yourself take some extra damage for a bigger payout. While less narratively driven than some of Oblivion Remastered‘s other guilds, the Arena is still a fun challenge and offers some good rewards.
