Netflix’s new reality competition show, Battle Camp, brings together a crew of Netflix reality stars, including Cheer star Gabi Butler, to compete for $250,000 and the title of “ultimate Netflix reality competitor.” Gabi, who originally graced Netflix screens as part of Cheer in 2020, is a fierce competitor, but even that couldn’t save her from Battle Camp‘s dreaded elimination wheel, which randomly decides who gets sent home. Gabi was eliminated during a shocking scene during Battle Camp season 1, episode 4.

Gabi still has her head (and her new blonde locks) held high, however, despite her upsetting elimination. She played a tough game and was sent home, not because of votes, but through an unlucky spin of the wheel. It was a harsh way to go out, but Gabi has a lot to look forward to back home, including her foray into coaching. Let’s find out more about Gabi and her life off-screen.

Gabi Butler’s Age

Gabi Is 27 Years Old

Gabi was born on January 16, 1998, making her 27 years old today. She was born in Boca Raton, Florida, to parents Debbie and John Butler. Debbie and John made many appearances on Cheer while their daughter starred in it. They also faced criticism for putting too much pressure on her to perform.

E! News reported Gabi was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2020, and the subject of her parents and their harsh tactics came up. Gabi said that it was a “big eye-opener” for them to watch the show together.

“My parents were like, ‘Wow, maybe we do need to let her be more independent and let her make her own decisions for herself.'”

According to an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, Gabi still lives in Florida. She told them that after she was eliminated from Battle Camp, she returned there: “I’m back at home in Florida. In the summers, I’m teaching, so I’m not committed to a team right now.”

Gabi is a Capricorn, which typically means she’s business-oriented and likes to get things done without much fanfare. According to her Weber State University profile, where she currently cheers, Gabi began competing in gymnastics at age eight. She was homeschooled for much of high school, which allowed her to focus on her cheerleading and gymnastics.

Gabi told Tudum she chose to join Battle Camp because she felt like her athleticism would be an asset. She wasn’t wrong, although that didn’t save her from elimination.

“I think what drew me in is just the fact that it was a competition show. I’m a very competitive person at heart. I was born to be a competitor. Because I am an athlete, I felt like it was right up my alley, and I was really looking forward to it. I was confident I was going to go a long way.”

Before Battle Camp and Cheer, Gabi appeared on the YouTube show Cheerleaders.

After her time on Cheer ended, Gabi made a pivot and signed with WWE as a professional wrestler in 2022.

It seemed like a natural route to take, given that many of her cheerleading skills could translate to the ring. She told People, “It’s very related to cheerleading because we’re performers, we’re entertainers, we like to put on a show and we also have to be athletic.”
