Even though Gilmore Girls might be over for good, the creators of the beloved teen drama are still making shows, including a new one on Prime Video. The WB/CW series, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive produced by Daniel Palladino, ran for seven seasons and 153 episodes before ending in 2007. Thankfully, the crew and cast of Gilmore Girls returned almost a decade later for Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The miniseries takes place nine years after the events of the original series’ finale and, as its title suggests, covers a year in the characters’ lives.

During an interview with TV Insider in March 2025, Amy Sherman-Palladino admitted that the possibility of another Gilmore Girls revival isn’t off the table. She said, “We never said ‘never’ because we didn’t actually intend to do the [revival] for Netflix.”

In the years since Gilmore Girls‘ ending (both of them), Sherman-Palladino and Palladino have worked on other TV shows. From Bunheads to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the married couple has kept busy. Now, Sherman-Palladino and Palladino have a new project that just premiered on Amazon Prime Video on April 24, 2025, and it’s perfect for those missing Gilmore Girls.

All eight episodes of Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino’s Étoile are now available to stream on Prime Video, giving Gilmore Girls fans another TV series to watch. The comedy-drama, which Sherman-Palladino and Palladino created, begins when two famous ballet companies — one in New York City and the other in Paris — trade their most talented stars “in an attempt to save their institutions.” While this brief synopsis might not sound anything like Gilmore Girls, Étoile unmistakably has the Palladino flair that can be found in all their shows.

Just by watching a few scenes of Prime Video’s comedy-drama, it’s easy to tell that Sherman-Palladino and Palladino are at the helm. Of course, Étoile establishes its own voice. However, it should still appeal to those who hold Gilmore Girls near and dear to their hearts.

The 2013 comedy drama revolves around Sutton Foster’s Michelle Simms, a former Las Vegas showgirl (and “bundhead,” aka ballerina) who moves to a small town in California, where she teaches at a ballet school. Sadly, Bunheads only lasted for one season on ABC Family. So, its legacy lives on via the Gilmore Girls creator’s 2025 Prime Video series Étoile.
