It’s well known within the Harry Potter fandom that there are many plot holes and unanswered questions that have plagued the story for years. While there have been some answers and retcons provided since the final book and movie premiered, there are just as many questions that are still being discussed by fans. It’s easy to hope that the upcoming TV show reboot from HBO will finally give concrete answers to some of the biggest inquiries into the fabric of the narrative. However, in many cases, this would defeat the point of the themes and tone of the story.
The Harry Potter TV show’s early casting updates have confirmed that the series is going to take the story in a fresh and exciting direction, but certain parts shouldn’t be changed. One of the best aspects of any fantasy book series is the mystery and fantastical elements that make the world so intriguing. Losing the intriguing atmosphere of the Harry Potter universe for the sake of satisfying some confusion would ultimately be to the show’s detriment. It’s nice when the characters and audience can share some of the magic of the world, and these questions allow for this.

When Sirius goes through the veil in the Department of Mysteries, it’s a physical manifestation of death and is one of the biggest losses Harry faces after his parents. It’s a traumatic moment in the book and film, and Harry doesn’t understand what’s happened to Sirius or where he’s gone when he goes through. Since Harry isn’t familiar with many aspects of the wizarding world, it’s initially assumed that Sirius might have been transported somewhere physical where he can be rescued.

Though The Order of the Phoenix did make some mistakes with Sirius, it’s accurate to the book that Sirius essentially vanishes, as this represents the sudden loss and grief that Harry experiences after his death.

What Did James & The Rest Of The Mauraders Get Up To At Hogwarts?

Most fans of Harry Potter have been desperate to know more about what happened when James and Lily were in school, as we only get a few glimpses into their dynamic. There has been fanfiction written about this and many theories about all the hijinks they got up to during their tenure at Hogwarts, but nailing down concrete answers would only distract from the new show. The best way to pay tribute to the Marauders and their history would be to give them their own prequel series.

How Did Dumbledore Appear To Harry In The Deathly Hallows?
It might have happened in Harry’s head, but does it really matter?
Dumbledore has a good explanation for Harry when they meet in The Deathly Hallows. He says it doesn’t matter if it was all in Harry’s head. After Voldemort kills Harry for the second time, he’s sent into a limbo between life and death where he sees the Horcrux inside him. In a full circle moment, Dumbledore is there, which is fitting considering the fact that this is the result of his plan and that he’s been Harry’s mentor throughout the story. However, it’s never certain how they met in this strange place.

If they had had the map since Harry’s first year, they would’ve seen a lot of unexpected names
There are many questions surrounding the twins and their early possession of the Marauder’s Map. It’s a critical piece of the story that connects Harry to his father and gives him an edge in his adventures. However, when Fred and George give it to him, they say they’ve had it for a few years. This begs the question of why they didn’t see Ginny in the Chamber of Secrets or notice the strange comings and goings of Quirrel in The Sorcerer’s Stone. This is a rather glaring plot hole, but in the larger story, it doesn’t matter very much.
An easy answer might be that the twins were focusing on their own pranks and weren’t concerned with the darkness at work in the castle. Regardless, answering this would be a waste of time for the Harry Potter TV show. There are already many confirmed characters and parts of the plot that the movies leave out that the series must tackle. This won’t leave much time for answering the extraneous questions in every novel, but this doesn’t detract from the audience’s enjoyment.
