The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom has been buzzing with heartbreak and disbelief since the shocking death of Satoru Gojo, one of the series’ most beloved and powerful characters. While fans speculated endlessly about how the seemingly invincible sorcerer could fall in battle, a recent development has added an extra layer of sadness, and frustration. In a rare and candid explanation, series creator Gege Akutami has finally addressed the reasoning behind Gojo’s demise in a note revealed at the new Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibit in Japan.
The message delivers a painful truth. According to @Go_Jover on X Gojo’s death was not due to a lack of strength or skill, it was a moment of fatal overconfidence. Gege revealed that Gojo had the ability to avoid the fatal blow delivered by Sukuna. However, much like a tragic echo of his past encounter with Toji Fushiguro, Gojo let his guard down at a crucial moment. He believed he had cornered Sukuna and, in that brief lapse of caution, paid the ultimate price.
