La Dispute is an American post-hardcore band that formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2004. Their music often incorporates elements of experimental rock, blues, and spoken word, and has been described using various genre terms like screamo, progressive rock, and melodic hardcore. The band is currently made up of vocalist Jordan Dreyer, drummer Brad Vander Lugt, guitarists Chad Morgan-Sterenberg and Corey Stroffolino, and bassist Adam Vass.
Their song “I Shaved My Head” was released around May 13, 2025, and it’s the first track from their upcoming album, ‘No One Was Driving the Car’. According to vocalist Jordan Dreyer, the song is about “a man examining his own slow dissociation from himself while shaving his head alone in a bathroom at night.” The lyrics reflect on moments of introspection and navigating the self. The album itself is said to be inspired by the 2017 film First Reformed and grapples with feelings of unease in the face of a worsening world, influenced by technological advancements.
