The new trailer for Rick and Morty season 8 has been released, confirming Space Beth’s return, a broken portal gun, and returning to the Citadel. Rick and Morty season 7 ended with Morty (Harry Belden) having realized he doesn’t need to centralize himself around his grandfather all the time, while still being willing to go on more adventures with him. There are also plenty of cliffhangers season 7 left, such as Mr. Poopybutthole replacing an alternate version of himself, and a continued storyline involving Evil Morty.
Now, Adult Swim has released the new trailer for Rick and Morty season 8, showcasing the many unique sci-fi adventures the pair will be going on in future episodes. Highlights include futuristic-looking soldiers with Christian-themed armor and weapons, a flying car chase sequence, Jerry (Chris Parnell) getting trapped in a crystal by Rick (Ian Cardoni), and the return of Space Beth (Sarah Chalke). She and Rick in particular appear to be fighting a group of aliens for unknown reasons.
The Citadel also makes a surprise return, as other versions of the core cast members are shown. More big moments in the trailer see a disheveled Jerry eating a head of lettuce in the fridge, Rick and Morty almost dying from debris in space, and the main pair getting trapped in a dimensional portal of some kind. The ending title splash reveals the show will be returning on Sunday, May 25 at 11 p.m. Check out the full trailer below:
