In light of the surprise release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered yesterday, the future of the ambitious mod Skyblivion was uncertain. The mod aims to recreate the entirety of Oblivion within The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and has taken over 13 years of development by an evolving roster of volunteers. The official remake of Oblivion could potentially have put a wrench in the project, if Bethesda had decided that it didn’t want the team working on the mod any more.
However, it seems there was no cause for concern, as Bethesda took the opposite route and granted the devs a token of their continued support instead. The official X account for the project, TESRSkyblivion, reports that the Elder Scrolls developer has sent the entire Skyblivion dev team keys for free copies of the newly released game (spotted by Video Games Chronicle).
