Sydney Sweeney has been cast in a video game movie adaptation created by the director of Wicked and the writers for Deadpool & Wolverine. Some of Sweeney’s best movies have come out in just the last few years, from her romantic comedy with Glen Powell Anyone But You, to her nun-focused horror movie Immaculate. At the same time that her career has been taking off, so too has the success of video game movie adaptations. Recent hits like A Minecraft Movie and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 showcase their popularity through strong box office numbers.
Now, Variety reports that Sweeney will be starring in an adaptation of Hazelight Studios 2025 co-op action adventure game Split Fiction. Jon M. Chu, director of both Wicked movies, will be directing, while Deadpool & Wolverine writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are also attached. Sweeney will also serve as an executive producer on the movie, although it remains unknown which of the two lead characters she’ll be playing, Zoe or Mio.
