According to Telly Visions, the Acorn TV production is set to debut the first of its six episodes on April 21, 2025, and will drop new installments each week on Mondays. Unlike many shows from other regions, The Brokenwood Mysteries actually airs in the United States first (on Acorn TV) before arriving in its native New Zealand later in the year.

Everything else in the plot description is stock-standard stuff for a murder mystery program, and it’s the characters that are the main attraction each week. Victims are shown falling to their deaths, exploding in flames, and meeting various other grizzly ends as the detectives try to unravel the clues. Perhaps most importantly of all, the trailer illustrates how the show’s signature sense of humor hasn’t waned.
