With The Last of Us season 2’s emotional story continuing to heat up, the next episode looks set to introduce some intense action that viewers won’t want to miss. Following the show’s most explosive episode so far, “The Path” slowed things down a little and gave viewers a chance to breathe while dealing with the aftermath of that huge Joel moment. Despite it being less action-orientated, “The Path” did help set the rest of the story in motion by showing how big The Last of Us‘ Washington Liberation Front is while also introducing the Seraphites, a unique religious cult.
Both of these factions were only given brief spotlights, but they will presumably play a big role in the rest of the season if the source material is anything to go by. The Last of Us season 2 has made several game changes so far and will likely do the same going forward, but the overall narrative is still closely following TLOU Part II, suggesting the next episode will be a big one. As a result, fans will be curious to know when exactly episode 4 will drop, and luckily, season 2’s usual routine is set to continue.
The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 4 Releases Sunday, May 4th At 9 PM ET On HBO & Max
New Episodes Of Season 2 Are Released Every Sunday At 9 PM
Just like the previous three episodes, The Last of Us season 2, episode 4 will stick with its allotted slot of 9 PM ET, with the upcoming action releasing May 4th. It doesn’t look like this schedule will change in the coming weeks, and with each episode lasting roughly an hour, it feels like the perfect format for HBO. For European fans, the episode will drop at 3 AM CEST on Monday, which is 2 AM in the UK, meaning fans can expect to tune in for the next installment at the same time they have every other week.
What To Expect From The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 4
Episode 4 Will Introduce A Major Video Game Character While Continuing Ellie & Dina’s Journey
The Last of Us‘ upcoming episode looks like an interesting one as the teaser suggested Dina and Ellie’s journey from Jackson to Seattle will continue, while one of the video game’s main antagonists will be introduced. After getting a glimpse at the WLF in “The Path”, episode 4’s trailer suggested the faction’s leader, Isaac Dixon, will make his long-awaited debut. Having voiced the character in The Last of Us Part II, Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role as the dangerous militia leader in HBO’s adaptation, giving us a chance to learn more about him and the WLF in episode 4.

Ellie and Dina set out on a long journey from Jackson, Wyoming to Seattle, Washington at the end of The Last of Us season 2, episode 3.
While there were no signs of Abby, Isaac’s presence means she may still be involved, especially as Manny made another appearance in episode 3. However, the bulk of the episode seems like it will focus on Ellie and Dina’s The Last of Us relationship alongside the hardships they will face on their journey through Seattle. The teaser indicated that they will face plenty of infected and have some stressful encounters, with Dina even aiming her gun at Ellie, meaning the two will have plenty of challenges to overcome when the show returns on Sunday.
How Many Episodes The Last Of Us Season 2 Has Left
The Last of Us Season 2 Has A Total Of 7 Episodes, With 4 To Go
With three episodes already in the books, The Last of Us‘ next episode will see us cross the halfway point of season 2 as there are only four episodes left, meaning there are seven in total. Whereas the original game was told in a single season, The Last of Us Part II is being split across seasons 2 and 3, hence fewer episodes this time around. Considering season 2 has been structured differently to its source material, it’ll be interesting to see where The Last of Us season 2 goes next, making the remaining episodes all the more must-see.
