The remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is real, and Bethesda has scheduled a livestream to tell us all about it. Among the storied Elder Scrolls series, Oblivion fits right in: while it was ahead of its time upon release, with an expansive and highly reactive open world, it’s since become visibly dated, with criticism focused on its clunky combat, blown-out visuals, and frankly odd NPC AI. Rumors of an Oblivion remake to address these issues have been ongoing since at least the beginning of the year.

But at the same time, Oblivion is undeniably iconic, and maintains a significant fan base today. A remake will undoubtedly garner all sorts of praise, criticism, and comparison, both to the original Oblivion and to the fan-made remake in the Skyrim engine, Skyblivion (which is still in development). All eyes will be on Bethesda’s livestream to find out more about this highly anticipated release.

The Remake Is Still A Mystery

Frankly, there’s a lot we don’t know about the Oblivion remake livestream, much like the remake itself, and that includes its runtime. It could be a quick, 30-second teaser, or it could be an hour-long deep dive into the Oblivion remake’s gameplay improvements. And we don’t really know what those gameplay improvements look like, if they exist at all. While images of the Oblivion remake were purportedly leaked last week, there’s no way to know whether those were accurate until we finally see in-game screenshots for ourselves.

Oblivion Remaster Could Finally Solve One Glaring Issue That Skyrim Created

The Oblivion remaster has the opportunity to solve some inconsistencies and fix a massive Elder Scrolls issue that Skyrim has continued.

Rumor also has it that the Oblivion remake could be shadowdropped immediately after its reveal during Bethesda’s livestream tomorrow. It’s important to note, though, that this has never been addressed by Bethesda; it’s entirely possible that this is just a rumor. It’s also been suggested that the Oblivion remake could be a day-one Game Pass release, similar to other recent Microsoft-published remakes like Ninja Gaiden Black.

What we do know, though, is that the remake is all but confirmed, and, barring a surprise Elder Scrolls 6 reveal, it’s likely to be the sole focus of the livestream tomorrow. For the rest, we’ll have to tune into Bethesda’s official social media channels tomorrow morning to learn more about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake.
